Biography

Born and raised in Paris, Atossa Kia is a French/ English speaking attorney licensed to practice law both in the U.S. and in France

Prior to launching KLF in New York, Atossa Kia was Assistant General Counsel at Sony Music Entertainment (France). At Sony, Atossa drafted and negotiated music contracts (recording, publishing, license, merchandising and distribution agreements), photography and artwork copyright clearances, web site design and development agreements, media planning agreements with advertising agencies, music webcast authorizations as well as settlements with artists and competitor major companies. She also managed Sony Music France’s trademark policy and portfolio and advised on the various legal issues related to the promotion and marketing of music. Atossa also subsequently took on senior management duties in the legal and business affairs department of Globe Music, a Sony Music affiliate specialized in world music.

After moving to New York and graduating from NYU School of Law, Atossa joined the corporate and entertainment practice of Pavia and Harcourt, LLP where she also acquired extensive corporate and general law experience in incorporating U.S. subsidiaries for various European companies and advising European clients owning assets in the U.S.

In New York, Atossa often provides pro bono legal services at V.L.A. (Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts) and also serves as a legal consultant for the European Music Export Office. She speaks English and French fluently, and is also a professional photographer (www.LP-Photos.com).
